What are the requirements to become a Security Officer?

Below is a quick guide of what courses you will need to obtain your California Guard Card.

To become a security guard an individual MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 Years of age
  • Undergo a criminal history background clearance by the FBI & Dept. of Justice
  • Possess Current Picture Identification
  • Possess a Social Security Card
  • Possess Right to work in the USA
  • Have no prohibiting misdemeanors/ felonies


Powers to Arrest Modules A B & C: 40 Hours Required

8 Hours: Prior to being assigned on post
16 Hours: Training required within the first 30 Days
16 Hours: Training required within the first six months
